Leadership
This is an important topic. There is a very VERY important principle in leadership. Not everyone claiming to be a leader knows this, as we have seen first hand. The principle is:
As a leader, I need you,
WAY more than you need me.
Think about that. “I” can’t do much. “WE” can do a lot. But if I simply command you to do something you have no investment in the task. If I respectfully request your assistance in performing a task, recognize your skills, and allow you the freedom to execute, then we share in the successful completion.
To be a successful leader, I need to earn your respect. To earn that, I will respect and appreciate YOU, and your efforts. Leadership is not an attribute conveyed by command or election to office, it is earned. I want to earn your trust. As the leader, am i the most important person in the room? Absolutely not! We are all volunteers. We should ALL be respected and appreciated. The LEADER needs to respect and appreciate the volunteers, then they will respect the Leader.
Remember, we are all here to have FUN!!!
